Storyline

Gaza hosted an international conference under the name “Gaza blockade is a persistent crime” to shed light on the prolonged blockade imposed on the enclave. During the conference, human rights activists from Gaza and outside the enclave discussed issues related to human rights which are protected by the rule of law and by international conventions. The economic fallouts of the blockade raised the unemployment rate and led to unbearable poverty spurred by a halt in importing and exporting along with shutting down factories. Furthermore, participants demanded the international community and organizations to pay greater attention by voicing an utter rejection to the blockage, which is a blaring breach of international laws

  • This conference aims at shedding light on the prolonged Israeli blockade on Gaza that has been in place for 15 years. It represents a glaring breach of international laws and all human norms as it has taken its toll on all aspects of life and has impeded any economic development. Moreover, the new generation was born in an ever-ending blockade and had never left the Gaza strip, deprived of the most basic human rights. Our message to all free minds around the world is that a human rights violation is indeed a breach against humanity. Therefore, in this battle, everyone should take a part, including the international community, human rights activists, governments, and parliaments. All of them should repeatedly voice their utter rejection of this heinous crime and refuse to normalize it.

  • Today we are talking about the blockade on Gaza and its repercussions on people, the economy, and the educational system. It is a well-known fact that Gaza is an open prison, where no one can ever leave or enter. Therefore, people in Gaza, in particular, suffer from many difficulties because of the blockade in comparison to other Palestinians in other areas. Furthermore, the blockade has had a chilling effect on our economy because we can’t import or export, not to mention that numerous talented youths were denied scholarships given the closure of the border crossings. Moreover, Sick people can’t receive treatment outside the Gaza strip.  I believe that the people in Gaza have nothing to do with what is happening in the political arena. As a Palestinian, I can say that we were denied our basic rights, and the world must act to change such a gloomy reality
