US- Restricted Christmas Celebrations in Washington DC Amid Fears of Omicron

For two years in a row, Christmas Eve celebrations have been restricted as fears of the highly- contagious Omicron variant grew more. Thousands of Americans were dismayed at the news of canceling their domestic flights amid a surging number of omicron cases. In this respect, few streets in Washington were lit up and decorated with almost empty shops in light of the imposed restrictions. According to the FlightAware website, 3000 Christmas Eve flights were called off along with another 2000 flights scheduled for this week, which only implies the growing concerns of the new Covid-19 variant.
