Palestine – The Commissioner General: UNRWA suffers financial crises for the first time in the history

In his first visit to Gaza after he took up his new position, the commissioner-general of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, stated today, Thursday, that for the first time in the history UNRWA lacks funds to cover its expenses until the end of this year,2020.  Lazzarini, in a press conference in Gaza, called for an international conference with the participation of Sweden and Jordan next year to talk about a sustainable budget for UNRWA. The agency is facing the worse financial crises ever due to a lack of donations especially after the United States decided to hold 360 million dollars for the agency 2 years ago which was making 30% of the budget that depends completely on donations.
