Tunisia: Political Parties discussed the prime minister proposal to form a national unity government

The democratic and progressive opposition parties in the Tunisian capital discussed the proposal of President Albaji Qaed Essebsi to form a new national unity government in light of the crisis of governance taking place in Tunisia at the moment.

Hama Alhamami, Secretary General of the Popular Front confirmed that the meeting is necessary to determine a work program of the next government and the need to break with the logic of the distribution of positions, explaining that the government of Alhabib Asayid failed mainly due to the lack of a clear plan of action. And Hamami condemned the attempts to share the responsibility of the ruling coalition failure which failed due to the lack of serious, viable and forward action mechanisms.
Issam Alshabi, Official spokesperson of Republican party considered the President’s initiative to call for the formation of a national unity government include the recognition of the explicit existence of a multi-dimensional crisis the current system could not solve, he said and called on the men to the need to hold a national dialogue ending with setting priorities and program to save the country and the formation of a national unity government is committed to implementing its provisions.
The opposition parties approved to continue consultation on the general situation in the country and the formation of a committee of experts to develop a program according to the priorities on the upcoming national unity government which they must adhere to.
