Libya – Views on Marshal Haftar’s offensive in the south of the country
Tripoli-Libya 01/04/2019
Several Libyans believe that the offensive that was carried out by the Libyan army headed by Marshal Khalifa Haftar in an attempt to attack the Chadian gangs in the south of Libya will not achieve their goals in establishing security and stabilizing the area, and they attributed that to that the limited numbers of fighters, and their lack of the proper armament. They also pointed out that the offensive was launched without the approval of the internationally recognized Government of National Accord. They also emphasized the need for peaceful transitions of power within a civilian state, and stressed the country’s need to have a powerful national army that is capable of guarding its borders and treasures.
