United States – International conference on humanitarian aid to Venezuela

An international conference was held in the US capital, Washington on delivering humanitarian aid to crisis-hit Venezuela, which is currently enduring a political tension between the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s administration and his opponent, the Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido. The conference was attended by representatives of more than 50 countries and international humanitarian and human rights organizations. The conference was called for after Maduro banned a humanitarian aid shipment from getting into his country. The participants said that this conference calls for the international community to come together to support Venezuela and provide it with the necessary assistance to resolve the country’s political and humanitarian crises. As the conference took place, dozens of Venezuelans and their supporters demonstrated outside the conference hall to appeal to the participants to provide assistance to Venezuela.
