Storyline:
Dozens of supporters of National Salvation Front staged a sit-in outside the Municipal Theater in capital Tunis on Friday, under the slogans “For One Arab Spring” and “For the Restoration of Democracy”.

The protest took place despite the announcement of National Salvation Front leaders to postpone the movement scheduled for today due to security forces preventing them from using loudspeakers during the protest.

This movement comes in condemnation of what protesters consider as forces against Arab Spring, and in rejection of the current political situation and social conditions in Tunisia.

  • Soundbite (Ahmed Najib Chebbi – Leader in National Salvation Front):
“We wanted to be part of this movement to revive the Arab Spring, which is an inevitable fate, and it is not a so-called international maneuver. Arab Spring is the will of Arab peoples. Forces against Arab Spring across Arab counties from Egypt to Tunisia have tried to circumvent this revolution.”
“We are in a series of movements to protest against the unconstitutional decisions of the head of state, the current political process and social conditions in Tunisia. This comes in conjunction with a call for Arab movements to restore democracy that represents hope for Arab peoples. Today’s movement comes under the context of reviving Arab Spring.”
