(SOUNDBITE) Nozha Ben Mohamed – Director of the Tunis office of Journalists for Human Rights Organization:

“This project has been launched in Tunisia for two years. We will try to reach the largest number of journalists to support women against all forms of violence. The project, in its second year, decided to monitor a full year of media work regarding these issues, and we came out happy, as 60% of media institutions supported women, but unfortunately they do not have a significant and positive impact on Tunisian society but the 40%, which are the major institutions, had the greatest influence on society and its awareness.”

(SOUNDBITE) Yousra Al-Mannai – Press Coordinator for Journalists for Human Rights:

“We frequently follow-up the issues of women in the media. The findings of the report that were presented today are positive. However, many media outlets did not follow up on any of the cases of women during 2021, especially during the monitoring process that I carried out. I came across rape cases, which are many and alarming.”

(SOUNDBITE) Nabil Al-Muntaser – Expert at Journalists for Human Rights:

“How do media address and defend the rights of women? Organizations follow procedures and issue a paper of journalists’ guide in the field of women’s rights. The role of the organization that belongs to civil society is to monitors what has been published. We are trying to support women and praise their successes. Tunisian women have achieved a lot. Civil society has to continue supporting women.”
