Storyline
Women from Gaza started the Good Hands project (Arabic for al’aydi altayiba) which is a dairy and cheese production from pure cow or sheep’s milk.
The 44 women working in the project received training for three years to be able to establish the project so they support their families.
At its inception three years ago, the project faced many challenges in the marketing process, but now the demand for these products has increased.
The project includes some machines; refrigeration and storage units and it produces a variety of dairy products and all kinds of cheese.

- (SOUNDBITE) Ikram Abu Rezek – Chairperson of the Sheep Breeders Cooperative Association:
“The project of the “Good Hands” manufactures cheese and dairy products. 44 women work on this project. The project provided job opportunities for women and improved their conditions. We bring milk and put it in a cooling device when we don’t use it. When we need it, we take it through the pump from the cooling device to the heating device, where it is heated to a certain temperature, because every product has a certain temperature. The milk is pasteurized, and substances are added to it so that it is curdled and turned into cheese. Then we start the process of packing and labeling, and then distribute according to orders.”
- (SOUNDBITE) Yasmine Abu Saeed – Worker:
“What distinguishes this project is that we work with pure cow’s and sheep’s milk. We make a high-quality product, which gained popularity. I used to go to the stores to coordinate with them, and I found a great demand for our products because they are natural. These job opportunities have been made available to us, to improve the living situation. We used to work on farms and our homes, but now we are in this factory-like place. We provide job opportunities for many women, to reduce unemployment, and have a productive and effective woman in society. We have 3 years in the project. We volunteered, worked, received a lot of training, and now reached the labor market”
