Syria – Women’s kitchen to prepare goods in traditional ways

31

A group of ladies in Qamishli, northern and eastern Syria, launched a restaurant specialized in traditional food, aiming to promote and provide job opportunities for women and empower them economically. The organizers of the Joan kitchen, which is located in an Arabic house, state that the idea arose when most people began to rely on processed items that contain preservatives, colorings, and other chemicals. They add that their products are 100 percent organic, and the goal is to promote traditional foods and prepare them using primitive methods, much like the people of the region used to prepare in the past.
