29

Following the Tunisian President, Qais Said, refusal to conclude the draft Constitutional Court bill and return it to Parliament, political division widened in Tunisia while opinions and readings of the position of the head of state differed between those who considered it a constitutional right and those who saw it as the head of state attempting to disrupt the way and continue the crisis. It should be mentioned that the Tunisian Parliament has approved several amendments related to the revision of the Constitutional Court Law to accelerate the establishment of this court, which is entrusted with tasks related to the integrity of the democratic transition process in the country by ensuring the constitution implementation, protecting rights and freedoms, as well as monitoring the constitutionality of draft laws proposed by Parliament in addition to the constitutionality of international treaties concluded by the President of the Republic.
