Bahrain – Analysts: Gulf states support imposing more sanctions on the Iranian regime
Manama – Bahrain 18/05/2020
Former Bahraini MP Jamal Bouhassan stressed the need for the international community to impose more sanctions on the Iranian regime, including extending a ban on the sale of weapons to it as it poses a threat to Arab and regional countries, adding that the GCC countries support the imposition of more sanctions on the Iranian regime as well as taking deterrent measures against it. U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Brian Hook had earlier threatened to return all UN sanctions on Iran if the Security Council did not extend the arms embargo on Tehran, which Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, rejected, saying that “the foolish allegations of U.S. officials toward the nuclear deal are nothing new.”
