Tunisia – Quarantine increases suicide rates and domestic violence among community members

Psychologists pointed out that the phenomenon of domestic violence is widespread and suicide rates are increasing in Tunisian society, attributing this to quarantine and curfew imposed by the authorities in Tunisia to reduce the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights recorded 15 suicides during  last March, specialists suggested that lifestyle change and loss of activities due to quarantine, in addition to fear of getting coronavirus or fear of losing ones parents or for them to be infected with the virus causes individuals to go through a difficult psychological periods, as they may develop obsessive compulsive disorder or tendency to be extremely isolated and remember sad events, adding that this can cause people to enter a state of depression that can continue beyond quarantine and lead to suicide or violence while dealing with other individuals.
