Tunisia – Electoral Commission officially announces Said’s victory

The head of Tunisia’s Independent High Electoral Commission, Nabil Befon, announced that candidate Qais Said has officially won the second round of the presidential election after the deadline for appeals on the results expired with an absolute majority of 72.71 percent, ahead of his rival Nabil AlKaroui, who won 27.29 percent of the votes. Befon said during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Commission this morning that the parliament will be contacted to determine the date of the inauguration of Said as well as taking the oath of the office in order for him to take over the presidency of the republic during the next five years.
