Iraq- Bardarash camp receives the first batch of Syrian refugees in Kurdistan region

Bardarash camp east of Duhok governorate in Iraq Kurdistan region received more than 200 Syrian refugees, who crossed the border through Waleed border crossing between Syria and Iraq, and they were transported by bus to Bardarash camp yesterday evening, and according to the camp staff, the second batch of Syrian refugees will arrive today and they are around 600 refugee, the official in charge of relations and information in the UNHCR in Duhok province, Hassan Rashid, pointed that the camp is being supported by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and some humanitarian organizations, where they prepared nearly 200 tents, also they are being prepared to distribute household and food items to refugees arriving at the camp, it was pointed that ” Bardarash” camp has been empty since 2017 after Internally Displaced People left the Nineveh Plain.
