Somalia – Al-Shabaab is burdening the people of Jilib with taxes and teaching their children its principles

Residents of The City of Jilib in the southern Somali region of Jubaland suffer from difficult living conditions due to al-Shabaab’s control of the city and their imposition of many taxes under the name of zakat, although the residents of the city regularly pay taxes to al-Shabaab, they found nothing in return in regards to the services they had promised, except for schools that teach the movement’s ideas and entrench them in the minds of the city’s children.
