United States – Reporters Without Borders: Press freedom is dropping, especially in the Middle East

Reporters Without Borders held a press conference at the headquarters of The Washington Post newspaper in Washington, DC, in which it revealed its Freedom Press report for 2019. The report showed a drop in the press freedom index in many countries, specifying that only 24% of 180 countries were classified as good on the press freedom index in comparison with 26% of the same countries in 2018. The organization has sounded the alarm over concerns that hatred toward journalists may turn into violence in some countries, especially in the Middle East and North Africa, which are still considered the world’s most unsafe regions for journalists.
