Tunisia – Al-Mashri accuses Haftar’s forces of committing war crimes in Tripoli
Tunis-Tunisia 18/04/2019
The head of the Supreme Council of the State of Libya, Khalid al-Mashri, said that the assault that was carried out by Haftar’s forces in the capital Tripoli, and his instructions to arrest members of the Government of National Accord is a military coup against the legitimacy in Libya, in which all the used methods indicate that it is a war crime, adding that biggest proof of that is the constant bombing carried out by Haftar’s forces against residential neighborhoods, hospitals and mosques, killing and injuring dozens of civilians. During a press conference that was held at the Libyan Embassy in Tunis, Al-Mashri accused Egypt and the UAE of providing military, logistical and media support to Haftar’s forces. He also attacked the Arab League’s stance toward the recent developments in Tripoli, saying that it has become a subsidiary of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, and that it does not reflect the Arab view, since it took Haftar’s side and supported the military rule.
