USA-conference to discuss US and Iranian interests in the Middle East

A number of authors and analysts discussed the US-Iranian relations and the interests of each in the Middle East, which created the conflicts inside those regions, especially Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon. In addition to Iran’s attempts to establish bases in Syria and Lebanon to confront the US. A group of participants mentioned that the US policy in the region is flawed with contradiction because sometimes it has a positive role and other time it has a negative role. Another group however mentioned the need for the US to stand its ground and protect its interests, which explains the US forces not leaving Iraq. This was during a press conference held in Washington.
