Libya – Reconstruction of devastated schools in Sirte

The municipality of the Libyan city of Sirte is making great efforts to overcome the challenges experienced by the education sector in the province, since many of the schools were destroyed due to the recent events in the region, which put the educational process on hold. Ali Ayyadah, member of the municipal council in Sirte, stated that education is the main foundation on which the city’s development and growth are built on, adding that it is one of the most dynamic sectors that needs to be cared for. The municipality carried out a reconstruction campaign that covered six schools, where the educational process have been resumed. He also mentioned that 4 more schools are undergoing maintenance work to reconstruct their damaged parts, and they will be reopening soon.
