Tunisia – Tunisians commemorate the 8th anniversary of the Freedom and Dignity Revolution
Tunis-Tunisia 14/01/2019
Tunisians commemorated the 8th anniversary of the freedom and dignity revolution, which overthrew the regime of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali on January 14, 2011, where thousands of Tunisians carried Tunisian and Palestinian flags and marched to Habib Bourguiba Street in Tunis to memorialize the Revolution despite the economic and social crises experienced by the country. Citizens and politicians believe that even though the revolution was able to accomplish major achievements in terms of freedom of speech and expression, enacting laws that ensure equality of rights and duties, and the right to protest and strike, however, the revolution’s path has been diverted since 2014 after corrupt lobbies took over the ballot boxes, hoping that the revolution’s goals would be all achieved.
