Somalia – Shortage in funds jeopardizes the voluntary initiative “Aamin Ambulance”

A group of Somali volunteers started the initiative of “Aamin Ambulance” project a few years back in the purpose of aiding the sick and the injured who suffer from bad living conditions due to the war and the deteriorating economic situation in the country. This is after wheelbarrows were the only available means of transporting the injured and rescuing the citizens. The group behind this humanitarian initiative are struggling, mainly because of shortage in funds and security challenges, as security forces refuse to cooperate with ambulances to aid the injured. The project also lacks the basic necessities, starting with shortage in the staff, limited number of ambulances and the unavailability of some medications and other supplies.
