Palestine – Conflicting view on Abbas’s decision to dissolve the Legislative Council which Hamas considers illegal

Politicians are having conflicting views on the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s decision to dissolve the country’s Legislative Council, where some of them pointed out that it might end the division and unify the institutions of the Authority by holding elections, while others believe it to be a leap to the unknown, so that the Fatah movement will rule the West Bank and Hamas will reject the decision and declare the continuity of the Legislative Council, which may end in achieving a truce with Israel . At the same time, Hassan Yousef, deputy for the reform bloc said that the decision is illegal and that no party has the right to dissolve the council, adding that this step would intensify the gap in the public street and deepen the divisions.
