The U.S Africa Command (AFRICOM) recently launched an airstrike near Awaynat town in southwestern Libya, targeting a number of Al-Qaeda militants. Shortly after the raid, tribesmen and elders of the Tuareg community denounced the airstrike, confirming that it killed 11 civilians in southern Libya. They also demanded the leadership of AFRICOM and the Government of National Accord, which was involved in coordinating the airstrike, to provide compensation to the families of the dead and injured, and demanded AFRICOM to apologize for conducting the raid.
