Tunisia – Press conference to assess human rights
Tunis-Tunisia 11/12/2018
Civil society organizations held a press conference in Tunis to assess Tunisia’s contribution to human rights, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human rights advocates confirmed that Tunisia has accomplished numerous significant gains that back human rights and defends freedoms and all the principles called for by the Universal Declaration, by issuing several laws and rules after the revolution, to protect and support the rights, for instance, they issued a law against racial discrimination, and another one to ensure women’s rights. They also condemned violating several laws by individuals and groups, especially during demonstrations, including torture during interrogation at police stations, while letting go of criminals.
