Libya – Security tension keeps the international airport of Maitika closed since early this month

The management of Maitika International Airport in Tripoli continues to suspend incoming and outgoing flights due to the armed clashes taking place in the vicinity of the airport between armed brigades. The director of airport security, Brigadier General Nasseruddin Bouazza, said that the security tension in the region led to suspending all the flights at the airport since the beginning of this month and transferring them to Misurata airport to avoid disrupting the passengers. Hel also stressed that the facilities of the airport are safe and ready to operate at any time. He also pointed to the presence of security and customs personnel at the airport building since its closure, preparing to resume operations immediately after the clashes stop.
