Shabwa’s elite forces carried out the “Defensive Sword” offensive on Monday with the backing of the United Arab Emirates, which aims to purge As Said District in Shabwa from terrorist members. The forces managed to control As Said District and deploy security points at all entrances and exits of the district in order to besiege Al-Qaeda members who are stationed in the region to carry out their armed operations. Lt. Col. Mohammad Salem Al-Buhair, commander of the Shabwa’s elite forces, declared taking control of As Said District and securing it from the “terrorist” members.
