Tunisia – Traditional pottery in the Tunisian island of Djerba.

The area of Qalala in the island of Djerba in the southeast of Tunisia, is famous for pottery on the wheel, where artisans extract clay from the basins adjacent to the sea and then liquidate it and add other materials until it becomes a soft material. Artisans put mud paste on the wheel and shape it with hands to turn it into utensils and antiques, then they dry it in the sun and place it in the oven to cook it on a low heat and finally they decorate it with natural colors.
