Storyline:
The Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries and a civil society coalition are launching several campaigns in Tunis under the slogan ‘yes’ in support of the new draft constitution, to call on citizens to vote yes in the referendum that will be held on July 25th.
They are organizing field campaigns and distributing leaflets across the city of Tunis, to defend the draft constitution, as well as holding conferences to explain the text of the new draft constitution to the public in order to persuade the people and urge them to vote in favor of it.
Shotlist:
Soundbite (Maher Al-Khashnawi – Official spokesman for the coalition):
“Today we are answering the call of the nation to move on and overcome the dark days, during which we lived through the killings of our sons in military and security, as we witnessed our degree holder sons being recruited to fight in Syria. We call on all Tunisians at home and abroad to head to the polls and vote yes to move into a new government system.”
Soundbite (Enas Balsaad Naggara – Assistant president of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries):
“We believe in the new 2022 constitution, which was a result of consultative dialogue through the committee we were members of as part of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries. This is the first time farmers are able to share their opinions about the constitution that we were not represented in, it is an important step for us and this sector. There are several misconceptions regarding the draft constitution, we ask everyone to read the text of the constitution and try to fully understand it. The new draft constitution does guarantee individual rights as well as women’s rights. I call on all Tunisian women to vote in the referendum, say yes to change and move towards a new, prosperous Tunisia.”
