Cases of acute malnutrition are on the rise in areas controlled by Houthi militias, the Hays Rural Hospital in Al- Hudaydah Governorate said. The hospital receives 20 cases of malnutrition per day, mostly children and women, as economic hardships continue to impact the war-torn country, said Amal Taher, head of the hospital-based outpatient clinic. The World Food Program has said Yemen is witnessing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, describing the food situation in the country as “catastrophic”. Around 13 million people in Yemen suffer from hunger and malnutrition, with 5 million threatened by famine.
