Storyline

The Culture and Art Authority in al-Jazira Region held the seventh edition of the Women’s Culture and Art Festival in which several activities will be held over two days.

Women from different regions of north and east Syria participated in the festival and presented theatrical performances, poems, dances performances, folkloric songs, and paintings.

The festival also included an exhibition of the participants’ work, handicrafts, traditional costumes, and accessories, as well as some equipment and household utensils.

“Women have participated in all fields. We wanted to empower women and reduce any bad influence they might face. We wanted to support women to develop this culture. “The Rojava conflict is well-known as the women’s revolution. It opened up all areas of life for women including her work, profession, and creativity. We note that a large percentage of females entered the field of work in the administration in all offices and bodies, and there are vacancies for women’s employment in this field. Women proved themselves that she is capable in the military, administrative, and cultural fields. They proved that they are capable of creativity, especially in this festival we noted that women of different Syriac, Arabic, and Kurdish components stand side by side and participate in this festival and excel in all fields.”

“We are 3 women work with handicrafts. Our goal is to present our work to the whole world and reach outside northeastern Syria. This is heritage work, which includes dream capture, amulets, crescent, belts, bags, and everything that comes to your mind. Visitors find special pieces that take them back to the old days”
