Storyline

A group of political and social activists in Northeast Syria held a discussion meeting to pressurize political parties to reach solutions for Qamishli’s residents amid the world’s ongoing conflicts. Following the Ukraine crisis, people feared a potential Turkish invasion which caused the population to migrate from the region in large numbers. Participants pointed out the need to oblige political actors in the region, including the Autonomous Administration and Kurdish National Council, to reach a consensus and a political solution that guarantees the security of the region and its residents.

Shotlist

  • Soundbite (Abdel Wahab Khalil – political activist):

“This discussion is the basis for upcoming meetings. We invited many Kurdish social and political figures to address the issue of Rojavay Kurdistan amid International conflicts and their negative and positive repercussions and effects on the region, proposing ways of development, change, and modernization. In addition, it was agreed to hold dialogue sessions to support the meeting that took place today.”

  • Soundbite (Shams Antar – writer and activist):

“All Syria’s citizens are affected by current crises, events, war, economic blockade, and the political situation. We try to come up with a solution or recommendations to present to political actors and decision-makers. People here are really scared and we have to make an impact instead of being affected.”
