Shotlist

  • (SOUNDBITE) Hassan Al-Fathali – media coordinator of the event:

“The gallery is held by the Institute of Press of Science Information. There are approximately 370 photos by 23 photojournalists. We tried to cover all fields of photography. We have a national photography competition open to all students in different parts of the country from various institutes, whether photography students or amateurs.”

  • (SOUNDBITE) Ammar Dai – Photography Teacher:

“This is the time of the image. It is necessary to expand the culture of image and to deal with the image, its interpretation, and understanding because this has become a very important matter. I am one of the advocates of teaching the culture of the image, even to children, from an early age, considering that the image is a powerful double-edged sword and when we cannot understand the image, it may refer us to opposite things. Therefore, the image as a silent weapon, we should discover its components, mechanisms, and keys.”

  • (SOUNDBITE) Amin Younesi – Photojournalist:

“A picture can convey any news even if it does not have a title. It is like writing, and when I want to say something, I use the camera. I always say we read pictures.”
