Storyline

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has said during a meeting with a group of young Bahrainis in Manama, Bahrain, that Israel and Bahrain have an opportunity to build bridges, despite the different cultures and religions. There are important aspects represented in choosing hope over aggression and opportunities instead of problems, Bennett added. The Arab and Israeli conflict is common, but now the rift exists between the agents of terrorism and chaos and between hope and construction. The Israeli Prime Minister had arrived in Bahrain on his first official visit, during which he discussed with the Kingdom’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa the importance of peace, development and prosperity in the region.

– (Soundbite) Naftali Bennett – the Israeli Prime Minister:

“This is a future that has preferred cooperation over conflict, hope over aggression, friendship over fear. It is a future that depends on everyone in the room. I am happy to be here. It is an honor to be here as Prime Minister of Israel on my first official visit to the wonderful Kingdom of Bahrain, and that I talk to young people from Bahrain. Who would have imagined? I met His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his Crown Prince and we had meaningful discussions. I thank them for their hospitality and for their courage because they embarked upon this wonderful change that is happening before us in the Middle East. Thank you all for being here today because we will all play a role in shaping the future of our region.”

– (Soundbite) Naftali Bennett – Israeli Prime Minister:

“After a decade of regional instability, and after two years of the pandemic that we hope will end, but is still present with us, and even during a period of turbulence in the global arena in these moments. We have the opportunity to build bridges, and although we have different cultures and we practice different religions, we are on the same side, which is the side of people who choose hope over aggression and opportunities over problems. The rift between Arabs and Israelis was common, but now the rift is between the agents of terrorism and chaos, and between hope and construction. The future of relations between our nations does not depend only on celebrations and declarations, but it depends on building relationships between people, and the best way to communicate is to meet, there is no better way than to meet face to face.”
