Storyline
Hanadi Abu Herbid, 23 -years old engineer from Beit Hanoun, invented a solar food dryer using local materials. It consists of a solar air heater and a pipe for pumping air. The aim was to produce healthy dried fruits and vegetables, free from any chemicals, used in imported food items. Through social media outlets and attending exhibitions, she markets dried food production. Hanadi hopes her solar food dryer gets recognition especially in light of the frequent power outage in Gaza.

The idea was to invent an energy-saving device for drying food by employing solar power and a heating pump. The aim is to invent a device that works around the clock and can operate at different temperatures to produce high-quality dried food. What made me think about drying fruits in the first place was that imported food items are chemically processed. Sulfur oxide is usually added to the food items to make them shine, and sometimes sugar is added. These additions are detrimental to sick people

Because fruits and vegetables grow in particular seasons, drying them was a good idea to stock them for winter. I receive orders for dried fruits and vegetables through social media outlets. Sometimes I also participate in exhibitions. Drying fruits and vegetables take from 16 to 25 hours to be ready
