Palestine – A campaign to turn Besor Stream into a natural reserve and park for locals

224

An awareness campaign, funded by UNESCO, was launched to transform Besor Stream, used for sewage, into a nature reserve. The campaign aims to protect the environment, avoid throwing waste into the Stream, as people suffer the unpleasant odors and the spread of disease-causing insects, and enlighten citizens to save the water of the stream and use it in agriculture. In addition, the campaign seeks to improve the green belt around the stream, to face climate change, and transform the area, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, into a park for the locals of Gaza.
