Turkey – Turks protest against the proposed constitutional amendments of establishing a presidential system.
Ankara-Turkey 10/1/2017
A number of Turks protested on Monday in the Turkish capital Ankara in front of the House of Representatives against the proposed constitutional amendments of establishing a presidential system instead of the parliamentary system in force in the country currently. The General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament started discussing a constitutional proposal on changing the system of government in the country from a parliamentary system to a presidential one, which provides for transferring the executive power from the prime minister to the head of state, and allows the president Erdogan to stay in power for a long time.
