Mongolia – Number of visitors to mental health centers increase due to smartphones addiction
The excessive use of smartphones and electronic gadgets in Mongolia has left many children addicted, which affects their behavior and lifestyle, increasing the children’s need for medical care and causing a decline in family and social interaction. B.Bayarmaa, the Deputy Director of the National Center for Mental Health stated that the center has seen a significant rise in the number of visitors this year, with around 90-100 children visiting the National Center for Mental Health, up from 3 to 4 children in 2000. According to B.Bayarmaa, the key reason for children’s attraction to surfing the Internet and applications and hence addiction to technology was the shift to online education and the children’s necessity to use phones.
