Syria- Launching ‘Safe Crosswalk’ Initiative to Shed light on Homeless’ Dilemma
In the war-ravaged region, numerous kids were forced into making a living by selling plastic items taken from the garbage. To support homeless kids and raise their awareness, local authorities in Ar Raqqah launched a campaign under the theme ‘Safe Crosswalks’. Numerous kids took part in the initiative by painting crosswalks. During which, they were introduced to the traffic lights laws. The initiative’s coordinators pointed out that international organizations gave those kids only scant regard. However, they contributed to building a huge part of the infrastructure. It is worth mentioning that amid poor living conditions that followed the grueling war, a soaring number of kids regularly rummage through the garbage to pick useful pieces. Moreover, many kids became homeless after their parents were killed in the war
