Syria – leishmaniasis breakout in Qamishli
A breakout in leishmaniasis in Tell Hamis and its neighboring villages in the southern countryside of Qamishli, cases have recently increased, medical centers reported that the number of infected people increased significantly during this period of the year, as it received one to two cases per day. However, the number has risen to 5 cases per day, the Leishmaniasis lesions or Aleppo pill, as the people of the region call it, spreads in areas where waste landfills is spread, swamps, places where livestock and poultry are raised. In time displacement situation is helping the increase of infection cases.
