Iraq – National Platform for Women Launched in Lead Up to Iraqi Elections.

In participation of women’s and parliamentary figures and civil society organizations a Press Conference is launched in Baghdad to introduce The National Platform of women in order to support their political role, electoral eligibility and to enhance their participation in leadership and decision-making.

President advisor, Khanim Latif, explained that the women’s quota in the upcoming Parliament is a positive transition point in the political process, but their role is still slight in decision-making within the executive authority.

Women Activists referred the weakness of decision-making to political parties’ regulations that excluded women’s role in their organizational structure which officially and legally limited their quota.
