Palestine – Crossings closure causes significant losses to the commercial sector

26

The commercial sector in Gaza suffers significant losses estimated at millions of dollars, due to the Israeli authorities’ continued closure of commercial crossings to freight traffic, and the imposition of more fees on goods in Ashdod port. The Director-General of Trade and Crossings in the Strip, Rami Abu Al-Rish, warned of the high unemployment rates and the deterioration of the commercial situation in the markets, as a result of preventing the entry of raw materials to factories and commercial establishments. He urged the international community and human rights institutions to work on reopening the commercial crossings to operate as they were before the last war on Gaza.
