Syria- Women Rights Associations Organized a Sit-In to Demand Protection Against Honor Killings
A number of female senior figures representing the Star conference organized a sit-in near the People’s court in Al Hasakah to rally against the soaring number of honor killings in the city. The most recent crime that fueled an outrage was committed against a 13-year-old minor. Protestors indicated that her family committed two crimes, the first of which was forcing her into marrying while she was a minor then killing her in the name of honor. Therefore, women demanded to desist wiping out women, and clamored for consolidating deterrent laws. Women organizations filed a lawsuit against perpetrators of honor killings in an attempt to change the outdated traditions and beliefs
