Yemen: The Salvadora Persica Tree Farmers Face Obstacles Amid the Endless War
The grueling war in Yemen exacerbated the Salvadora persica (toothbrush tree) farmers’ agony in Hajjah Governorate in the last three years. A farmer illustrated they make their living through planting the toothbrush tree from which they extract the Miswak. However, because of the Houthi militias’ invincible siege, farmers are facing a dilemma as they can’t export their agricultural production to the local or outside markets. Therefore, farmers demanded settling the issue considering the fact that about 150 families will go out of business
