Thailand – Authorities intensify efforts to watch out the borders and prevent drug smuggling from neighboring countries

Thailand has more than 3,000 Kms of its land to watch out for drug trafficking with 1,594 km Thai-Laos borderline from Chiang Rai to Nhong Kai and over 1,400 km Thai-Myanmar borderline from Chiang Rai to Kanchana Buri. The country has been trying its best by gathering forces from the police, army, volunteer, and community for 24/7to control and arrest the trafficking. Since October 2020, Thailand has managed to seize 23,783 kgs and 40,924pills of drugs. For his part, the Sheriff of Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai, Prasong, Prasong La-on, stated that the security forces are doing their best to monitor the borderline in Chiang Rai, especially in Mai Sai, despite the insufficient number of security forces.
