Syria- Folk Songs Are the Only Mean to Preserve the Kurdish Language

The Kurdish Language Foundation held a celebration to mark the Kurdish language day in 21 of February, attended by folk singers and musicians from different Kurdish regions. These songs have been inherited from fathers to sons. Language experts illustrated that the Kurdish language development reached its sixth level only, given the policies that were imposed on Kurds by governments. Accordingly, the only means to preserve the language were through singing and narrating stories, which are packed with original Kurdish words and structures. Kurdish singers who celebrate heritage-related songs are held in high esteem, given the rich language value of these songs
