Iraq- Power outage enrages citizens of Najaf
Najaf – Iraq 18/01/2021
The persistent power outages in the Najaf city trigger angry reactions. Citizens attribute the cause of this to the fewer gas imports from Iran, which exacerbates the misery of the population due to the very low temperatures that raise the need for electric energy-dependent heating systems. Iran had previously lowered its gas supplies to Iraq to 5 million cubic meters per day, after it was 50 million, due to non-payment of unpaid debts, according to a spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, and Iran officially told the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity that it will reduce supplies again to 3 million meters cubic.
