In Tunisia, the textile sector doesn’t only suffer from labor shortage but also sales are dwindling as the country’s economic reality isn’t promising. Since time immemorial, Tunisia was known for Zarbya and Margoum carpets, given the abundance of the main substance: the wool. These carpets are distinguished by their geometrical motifs, making them ideal for home decoration. These handicrafts were passed down within the family from one generation to the next. Many people make their living through weaving those high-end carpets despite the hurdles of such handicrafts as it takes a long time and painstaking effort. Zarbya” is manually made with pure sheep wool and natural pigments by using the weaving loom.
