Lebanon: Experts-US Sanctions on Gebran Bassil Aim at Isolating Hezbollah

Experts pointed out that Gebran Bassil’s belief that US Treasury sanctions target him in person considering his ties with Hezbollah -is misleading. They also indicated that US sanctions are effective as they do isolate Hezbollah, and raise fears among its allies. US decision was praised by Lebanese people as these sanctions target the ruling class and high-profile figures who are deeply involved in corruption. The situation in Lebanon can only be dealt with through containing Hezbollah and disarming it. Hezbollah shouldn’t be deemed as a political party. It is worth mentioning that such politicians wouldn’t concede even in light of these sanctions
