Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Elias Abu Saab, who is charged with following up on the demarcation of the southern maritime border between Lebanon and Israel, in cooperation with the American mediator, confirmed the delivery of the final version to Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

Bousaab said in a press conference today, “Today, I handed President Michel Aoun the final, amended version after the American ambassador handed over to the president the proposal sent by the American mediator, Amos Hochstein.”

“What I can say today is that His Excellency the President began issuing decrees, and I hope he will conclude them with a demarcation, which boosts Lebanon’s economy and ensure its stability,” he added.

He underscored that the demarcation of the borders met all the Lebanese demands and observations, contrary to what rumors stated.

Regarding Israel’s participation in the Qana gas field, close to the Lebanese-Israeli border, Abu Saab highlighted that there is no partnership between Lebanon and Israel, nor the sharing of natural resources.

Bousaab indicated that Lebanon signed an agreement with Total in 2017, where the conditions stipulated that the Lebanese stake in the field is not limited to Block No. 9 only, but includes the entire field.
